November 2018 – Sales
Canadian light vehicle sales were down 9.4% to 143,668 units, the eighth consecutive monthly drop in 2018 and the sharpest decrease since 2009. Passenger car sales fell 11.4% to 39,031 units, while light truck sales dipped 8.7% to 104,637 units.

Total sales by JAMA Canada members slipped 1.6% to 55,524 units in November 2018. Sales of both cars and light trucks fell: down 3.1% to 18,855 units and 0.7% to 36,669 units, respectively. Members results were split. In positive territory were Toyota Canada (+10.4%), Subaru Canada (+4.8%), and Nissan Canada (+0.5%); while others were lower: Honda Canada (-11.8%), Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (-11.8%), and Mazda Canada (-14.8%).

Through the end of November, Canadian light vehicle sales have dropped 2.3% to 1,870,703 units compared to the same period in 2017. Passenger car sales decreased by 9.6% to 548,987 units, while light truck sales gained 1.1% to 1,321,716 units.

Japanese brand sales as a group rose 1.4 % to 687,650 units, which improved market share to 36.8% from 35.4 % last year. Passenger car sales fell 6.0% to 257,888 units, while light truck sales grew 6.4% to 429,762 units. Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (+10.1%) was the growth leader, followed by Subaru Canada (+6.7%), Toyota Canada (+1.8%), Nissan Canada (+1.7%), Mazda Canada (+0.7%), and Honda Canada (-1.5%)
