New Chairman at JAMA Canada – Shigeru Takagi succeeds
Yoshio Nakatani
Toronto, Ontario – Today, Mr. Shigeru Takagi, President
of Honda Canada Inc., officially assumed the responsibilities of
Chairman of JAMA Canada, taking over on an interim basis from Mr.
Yoshio Nakatani, former Chairman of Toyota Canada Inc., who will
be returning to Japan.
" As the incoming interim Chairman of JAMA Canada, I want
to express on behalf of all members of JAMA Canada, our deep appreciation
and heartfelt thanks to Mr. Nakatani for his work, leadership and
support of JAMA Canada over the past six years as Chairman,"
said Mr Takagi at a recent reception in Ottawa.
" Mr. Nakatani’s efforts to deepen the business and trade
relationship as well as enrich the cultural understanding between
our two countries have been recognized in the citation he received
recently from Prime Minister Jean Chretien," he added. "I
look forward to working with the Canadian Government and industry
stakeholders on a number of important auto-related issues on behalf
of JAMA Canada members in the year ahead."
Mr. Takagi has been President of Honda Canada since 1998, and is
a Director of Honda Motor Co. Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan.
JAMA Canada was established as a non-profit trade association in
1984 to promote greater understanding on trade and economic issues
in the auto sector and to support closer cooperation between Canada
and Japan. The current members of JAMA Canada include Hino Diesel
Trucks Canada, Honda Canada, Honda of Canada Manufacturing, Mazda
Canada, Nissan Canada, Subaru Canada, Suzuki Canada, Toyota Canada
and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
